Gretchen’s journey into color started in the back seat of her parents' car during sun-drenched drives through Puerto Rico. From the chrome-trimmed windows of her father’s Chevrolet Impala, she watched light paint new skies, turn palm leaves into feathers, and fill the ocean with glitter. These moments became her “color baggage”—a deep emotional connection to light and color that shaped her intuitive approach.

Later, in Portland, Oregon, the gray skies taught her something else: the sovereignty of shadows. If Puerto Rico gave her brilliance, Oregon taught her subtlety. That duality became the foundation of her advanced approach to color harmony—one that blends lived experience with technical mastery.
